Commissioning is fundamentally by far the most important
part of any Air Conditioning installation.
Most manufacturers boast 0.3% comeback) on their equipment
(3 in 1000) which in our opinion, could be reduced if more
attention was paid to the importance of commissioning by
the Installer.
Poor
system performance and repairs can be avoided if good working
practices are employed.
Below, are just
a few tips for good working practice:
|
Purge
one circuit at a time when pressure testing (avoiding
crossed pipe-work, using high purity OFN (Oxygen free
Nitrogen) |
Seat all flared connections with suitable oil. |
Tighten all flares to their recommended tightness /
manufactures data. |
|
Pressure test to prescribed pressure (1.1 x saturation
pressure) |
|
When
pressure testing system it is advisable to leave for
24 hours to confirm system integrity, leak detection
may also be used on flared connections etc at this time.
|
Once the integrity of the system can be confirmed, triple
vacuuming can be carried out. |
Vacuum the system down to 2 Torr as required. |
|
Once final vacuuming
is underway, the following checks can be made to the system.
Correct connection of all conductors, including mains,
interconnection, remote controllers and pump wiring. |
Integrity of electrical earthing via measurement of main
earth fault loop impedance (Zs) |
Correct operation of pumps, condensate drains etc. |
Tightness
of all supports, brackets, fittings & fixtures. |
When all the above
are complete, then gas charging may commence, most units available
are pre-charged when dispatched. Additional charge may be
added by weight as per manufacturers specifications (If required,
dependant upon length of run / lift etc).
All relevant commissioning
data should be recorded for service records, as reference
may need to be made at a later time.
In conclusion to
all the above-mentioned, if the installation is fitted and
commissioned correctly then long life should be achieved (dependant
on service)
All new units come
with three years parts and labour warranty. It is imperative
that the installation be fitted to look and perform to the
highest possible standard for customer satisfaction.
In our opinion if there is room for improvement, then it is
not good enough!
